UN set for emergency talks on Gaza
The UN Security Council is to hold an emergency meeting on the conflict in Gaza later today, diplomats said.
Jordan asked for the meeting after Israel launched a ground invasion of Gaza yesterday.
Thousands of Israeli soldiers crossed into the Gaza Strip after 10 days of heavy air bombardments to try to destroy Hamas’s rocket-firing abilities and the tunnels militants use to infiltrate Israel.
