Cold snap leads to treacherous driving conditions

Motorists are being advised to drive with care this morning after temperatures dropped to -6C in places overnight.

Icy conditions are being reported in some areas following intermittent sleet showers.

Met Eireann said snow and rain may cause some disruption for motorists in the south and east throughout the morning.

The cold snap will not be as severe or as prolonged as last month's cold weather with milder weather expected around the country next week.
