Torrential rain has put the parts of the country under water.

Heavy showers are causing widespread flooding across the country but Dublin is the worst hit.

Joanna Lumley of Met Eireann says it is a record amount of rainfall for one day.

"Dublin is the worst hit this time, the monthly average rainfall expected for the Dublin area is 64mm, and we have had 42mm already since 6pm yesterday evening.

"That is a very significant amount to fall in one day," she added.
