Grammy-nominated singer Daniel Bedingfield has been injured in a car accident near Whangarei in the north of New Zealand’s North Island, police said today.
New Zealand-born Bedingfield, who has had three number one hits in British dance charts, was discharged from hospital after being treated for head and neck injuries.
A spokesman for Whangarei police said no further details were available. It was not known whether Bedingfield, 24, was the driver or passenger or if another vehicle was involved.
Bedingfield is on holiday in New Zealand and was unavailable for comment today.
The young artist burst on to the British dance scene in 2001 with his album Gotta Get Thru This. The single went to number one in the charts and the album sold more than three million copies.
After being rejected by several record labels, Bedingfield recorded most of the album in his own bedroom.
