A man and a woman are recovering this morning after being shot during separate incidents in Dublin and Limerick yesterday evening.

The man is in a stable condition in hospital after being shot in the head in the Rathfarnam area of Dublin at around 7.30pm.

The man was hit when a gunman fired one round from a shotgun during an incident at a house in Mountainview Park.

A woman in her 20s, meanwhile, was injured when shots were fired at two houses in the O'Malley Park area of Limerick just after 8pm.

Gardaí are investigating if the shooting may have been related to the long-running feud between two family-based criminal gangs in the area.
