Gardai at Navan have named the 34-year-old man who died following a hit-and-run accident on the Navan to Slane Road last night.

Gardai at Navan have named the 34-year-old man who died following a hit-and-run accident on the Navan to Slane Road last night.

He was Desmond Kellett of Closker Park, Navan, Co Meath.

Mr Kellett was killed when he and a friend were walking along the Navan-Slane road shortly after 10pm last night, and they were struck by a car at Donaghmore.

The vehicle, which failed to stop, is described as a metallic blue van with a roof rack.

The second pedestrian, an 18-year-old, remains in hospital where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
