'Tiny Dancer' Lily-Mae now nine months cancer-free

The parents of Lily-Mae Morrison have revealed that the tot known to thousands as Tiny Dancer is now nine months cancer-free.

Her mother revealed the news in a post to Lily-Mae's Facebook page saying she had just received to call to say five-year-old Lily-Mae's tests were clear.

"So, so happy, in tears here. The fear we have to live with is just horrific," Judith wrote.

"She's winning!!!! It's a long road ahead, but she's getting there.

"Happiest mammy in Ireland."

Lily-Mae was diagnosed on June 1, 2012 with a rare form of cancer called Neuroblastoma which effects 1 in 100,000 children in Ireland.

She was declared to be in remission in October last year following groundbreaking Intensely Moderated Arc Radiotherapy treatment in London, and subsequently enrolled in a gruelling two-year clinical trial programme which requires her to travel to the US four times a year, but is hoped will reduce her chances of relapse.

She is currently in Michigan, accompanied by her dad Leighton Morrison, for the latest round of that treatment.

The youngster captured the hearts of the Irish public at Christmas 2012 after a galaxy of Irish musicians collaborated to record and released the chart-topping single, ‘Tiny Dancer’ in order to raise funds for her treatment.

Donations to help fund Lily-Mae's treatment can be made through the Sunni Mae Trust set up in her name, with any excess going to the Neuroblastoma Society to assist research into the disease.
