Tsunami collection raises over €1m in pubs and hotels

A collection taken up by in the country's pubs and hotels over the New Year's weekend for the Asian disaster relief fund has raised more than €1m.

A collection taken up by in the country's pubs and hotels over the New Year's weekend for the Asian disaster relief fund has raised more than €1m.

The collection, which was organised by the gardaí, the Licensed Vintners Association, the Vintners Federation of Ireland and the Irish Hotels Federation, went to the Irish Red Cross.

The organisations involved are thanking the public and their own members for their efforts.
