CIE group to hike fares by 2% next year

Bus and rail passengers will be hit with fare hikes of up to 2% next year.

It is to help restore the finances of the CIE group which saw a deficit of more than €11m last year.

Cash fares will be hit with the highest increases in an effort to move away from payment in coins.
