Young woman in custody after pensioner's death

A 21-year-old woman arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with the death of a 66-year-old man in the early hours of Saturday morning remains in garda custody.

A 21-year-old woman arrested yesterday afternoon in connection with the death of a 66-year-old man in the early hours of Saturday morning remains in garda custody.

The woman can be held until later this evening before being charged or released.

Gardaí and ambulance personnel came to Wellview Grove, Blanchardstown after they were alerted to an altercation that had spilled onto the street.

The man was struck by a car which was later found, burned out, a short distance away.

The man was removed to James Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown but pronounced dead on arrival.
