Manchester City midfielder Kevin Horlock has been offered an extension to his contract at Maine Road by manager Kevin Keegan.
The 29-year-old has 12 months left on his current deal but now has the chance to increase that by a further year as City prepare for a return to the Premiership next season.
Horlock has been a key part of the Blues’ Division One title-winning side, scoring eight times, and Keegan believes his ‘‘sensational’’ performances fully justify a new contract.
Keegan told the club’s official website, mcfc.co.uk: ‘‘Kevin will be made an offer to extend his contract by another year.
‘‘He has had a great season and he deserves to be offered a new contract, there is no doubt about that.
‘‘He has been sensational for us. He finished second in the player of the year awards and that tells you it all. I think Stuart Pearce finished fifth or sixth.’’
