80,000 to descend on Croke Park for All-Ireland final

A crowd of 80,000 will fill Croke Park today for the sell-out All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final between Cork and Clare.

Dozens of gardaí will be on-duty in the area and they are appealing to those driving to the game to arrive early.

A number of roads will have restricted access, while gardaí also request for the pitch not to be invaded after the game.

"Don't drink and drive and be aware there are a lot of gardaí on duty," Garda Inspector Tony Gallagher at Mountjoy warned matchgoers.

He also encouraged those purchasing tickets to be wary and "profile the person you're buying from" to assess counterfeit risks.

"Huge volumes of traffic" are expected on the motorway heading to Dublin today, Chief Executive of the Road Safety Authority, Noel Brett, said.

"We're really asking people to allow lots of time for their journey, use public transport if at all possible, [and] drive at an appropriate speed."
