A new online initiative is being launched today to help Irish firms calculate the savings they can make by becoming more environmentally friendly.

The tool will be available at www.change.ie and will be launched by Environment Minister John Gormley.

It measures emissions from energy, transport, water and waste and then gives advice on how to become more efficient.

Environmentalists say businesses can cut their costs by at least 5% by reducing their basic carbon emissions.
