The judge who has heard details of the theft charges against Hollywood actress Ms Winona Ryder's has said she will stand trial.

Judge Elden Fox said there is enough evidence for a trial.

The actress faces counts of grand theft, burglary, vandalism and possession of a controlled drug.

Ms Ryder has maintained her innocence through her lawyer Mr Mark Geragos who says he expects her to be cleared when the case goes to trial.

Police said she also had the painkiller Oxycodone, a morphine derivative, without a prescription.

She faces up to three years and eight months in prison if convicted of the charges against her.
