Gardai at Santry station in Dublin are questioning a man arrested yesterday in connection with a large drugs seizure at Dublin Port.

The National Drugs Unit arrested the man at Dublin Airport in a follow-up operation to the seizure of drugs by Customs officials at the port.

A garda spokesman said the 40-year-old man is an Irishman living outside the country.

He has not been charged.

A ‘substantial’ quantity of cannabis was found hidden in spices in a container yesterday afternoon.

A garda spokesman said this morning the haul has turned out to be smaller than expected.

The drugs are believed to be worth around £100,000.
