Mick Fitzgerald has spoken of his frustration at being out of action for almost two weeks with an ankle injury.
And to cause the jump jockey further agony, his injury has come at a time when his main stable, that of Lambourn trainer Nicky Henderson, is going through a purple patch.
“The progress is a bit slower than I would have liked. It’s very frustrating because the Henderson horses are in such good form at the moment and they had a good day at Kempton on Monday,” he told attheraces.
“When you are injured there’s nothing you can do but hope the recuperation doesn‘t take too long.”
Fitzgerald has been out since a fall on Hoteliers’ Dream at Taunton on January 16, missing the winning ride on Non So in the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton and the big pre-Festival meeting at Cheltenham last Saturday.
