Fianna Fail leader Bertie Ahern has said his party will have 100,000 people canvassing daily from next week until the general election on May 17.

Fianna Fail leader Bertie Ahern has said his party will have 100,000 people canvassing daily from next week until the general election on May 17.

Speaking in Dublin this morning, Mr Ahern said his party still has work to do over the next two weeks, despite an opinion poll which showed them chasing the real possibility of an overall majority.

“We have to hold on to the seats that we have and see where we can get gains and that’s going to be a massive effort by all of us,” he said.

“We’ve been sitting around in second gear for the last 10 days. We really have to start putting on the pressure. Hopefully from next week, we’ll put 100,000 people a day out canvassing.”
