Gardaí identify Dublin murder victim
Gardaí tonight formally identified the body of a man found three days ago.
While his name has not yet been released, the murder victim was from Cabra in the north of Dublin, was Irish, aged in his 30s and worked as a security officer.
He died from multiple stab wounds, including injuries to his neck.
The body was found on Mill Lane, Palmerstown, west Dublin, by a passer-by walking his dog on Friday afternoon.
It is understood detectives do not believe the killing was gangland related.
It is thought the man was identified as a result of a fresh appeal for help by detectives tonight.
A garda spokesman said his family had been notified.
Officers believe the body was at the scene – among the ruins of an old church and cemetery – for about 48 hours.
