Gardaí probing the stabbing death of a 48-year-old man in Tipperary town are continuing to question five people.

Gardaí probing the stabbing death of a 48-year-old man in Tipperary town are continuing to question five people.

William Stokes, a married father, was stabbed to death in the town on Friday evening.

He tried to flee his attackers and managed to drive a short distance before coming to a stop and he died from his injuries.

Three women and two men are in custody for questioning.

It is understood gardaí are investigating the possibility the killing is linked to an ongoing feud between members of the travelling community in Waterford and Tipperary.
