Plane hijacked at Jamaican airport

A plane was hijacked today while on the tarmac near Montego Bay in Jamaica, an airport spokeswoman said.

A plane was hijacked today while on the tarmac near Montego Bay in Jamaica, an airport spokeswoman said.

Elizabeth Scotton said no passengers were on board the Boeing 737 at Sangster International Airport and no injuries were reported.

She could not confirm reports that a gunman was holding members of the crew hostage on the plane. TV news channel CNN reported that seven people were being held hostage.

Ms Scotton said the Canjet flight had been destined for Halifax, Canada.
