Albarn challenges Gallagher to campaign for Greenpeace

British rocker Damon Albarn has challenged his former rival Noel Gallagher to show his worth - by campaigning for Greenpeace.

Oasis star Gallagher, who infamously said he wished Albarn would die of AIDS at the height of their feud in the mid-1990s, last month confessed his admiration for Albarn's prolific work ethic in bands Blur, Gorrilaz and The Good, The Bad & The Queen.

And a surprised Albarn would respect Gallagher "enormously" if he joins him to protest against nuclear arms.

Albarn says, "He respects me? Oh, that's very nice.

"I tell you what, I'd respect him enormously if he came and added his very articulate and acerbic wit to trying to get the (British) government to rethink spending $48.7bn (€35.8bn) of our money on a totally and utterly useless defence system.

"I'm trying to get everyone to come on to the Greenpeace boat and make a noise. Not necessarily music, but a noise. I haven't worked out how I can do it, but anyone who wants to… come along in the next few weeks when it moors up and shout over the river at the government.

"The more people, the louder the noise."
