Maybin and Moriarty out of Home Internationals

Gareth Maybin (Ballyclare) and Colm Moriarty (Athlone) have withdrawn from the Irish team for the Home Internationals at Ballybunion Golf Club on September 17 to 19. They are replaced by Richard Kilpatrick (Banbridge) and Michael Sinclair (Knock).

Gareth Maybin (Ballyclare) and Colm Moriarty (Athlone) have withdrawn from the Irish team for the Home Internationals at Ballybunion Golf Club on September 17 to 19. They are replaced by Richard Kilpatrick (Banbridge) and Michael Sinclair (Knock).

Kilpatrick will be making his debut as a full international while Sinclair, winner of the East of Ireland Championship this year, played for Ireland in the Home Internationals at Royal Co Down Golf Club in 1999.

Maybin, who is on a golf scholarship at a University in Alabama, is unable to return home from the United States because of his studies while Moriarty, who is a member of the Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup team which faces the Americans at Ganton Golf Club on September 6 and 7, has indicated that he intends to spend the following two weeks practising in preparation for the PGA European Tour's Pre-Qualifying School.

The revised Irish team for the Home Internationals is:

Mark Campbell (Stackstown), Darren Crowe (Dunmurry), John Foster Ballyclare), Noel Fox (Portmarnock), Justin Kehoe (Birr), Richard Kilpatrick Banbridge), Brian McElhinney (North West), Michael McGeady (City of Derry), Mark O'Sullivan (Galway), Mervyn Owens (Mallow), Michael Sinclair (Knock).
