New low fare option for Irish fliers

Ryanair is about to get a competitor for the low fares market at Dublin Airport.

Ryanair is about to get a competitor for the low fares market at Dublin Airport.

British operator GO! is to announce plans to operate out of Dublin later today.

The airline is based at London's Stansted airport and uses a fleet of 148 seat Boeing 737s to serve 24 European destinations.

The low cost airline already flies into Belfast, but this is the first time it will have ventured into the Republic.

The annoucement comes just weeks after Ryanair announced that it would deliberately deprive Dublin of new routes while its row with Aer Rianta and the Government over landing charges continues.

It is not yet known where GO! intends to fly, but air travellers are expected to benefit from another airline offering low fares from Dublin.
