Online retailer to create more than 200 jobs in Galway

A US internet retailer is to create 200 jobs in Ireland with the opening of a customer support centre, it was announced today.

The positions are to be rolled out over the next three years at the new multi-lingual European headquarters for CSN Stores in Galway.

Eamon O Cuiv, Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, said the offices will boost the region’s attractiveness for similar investments.

“The company will be a significant employer in the West of Ireland, hiring third level graduates in IT, software engineering, localisation, finance and multilingual customer support,” he added.

CSN will also employ several buyers across Europe to source products directly from manufacturers.

The Galway operation, to be opened in January in the Mervue Business Park, will mainly provide telephone and email support services for European customers.

Nicholas Malone, of CSN, said it decided on the location because there was a highly intelligent, well-educated and multilingual local workforce.

“We also believe that there’s a strong fit between our company’s hard-working, dynamic and celebratory culture and the people of Galway,” he said.

Based in Boston, Massachusetts, CSN is ranked among the top three home goods online retailers in the US, according to the company.

It has more than 200 internet shops offering products including cookware, barstools, bedroom sets, grills, greenhouses and gaming equipment.

The investment was supported by the state jobs creation agency IDA Ireland.
