Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams said today that it does not matter who forms the next Government, as their spending plans have already been decided.
He claimed that the incoming Government will continue the economic policies of Fianna Fáil.
“It seems to us that what you’re going to get, whoever forms the Government, is a Fianna Fáil budget being implemented,” he said.
“These parties are both committed to continuing what we think are very, very bad policies.
“Whoever forms the Government we wish them well. We will be supportive. We will be very constructive. We won’t be in Opposition for the sake of it.
“But we will also fight tooth and nail on those issues that are important to citizens right across this island, but particularly in terms of the Universal Social Charge – it should go.
“There needs to be a new Budget. There is going to be €30.6bn gifted to banks which all the parties agree are going to be closed. That just doesn’t make sense at all to us.”
