Newton Abbot’s fixture on Saturday will require a precautionary inspection, the time of which has yet to be finalised, on Thursday.

The Devon venue has already withstood a deluge of rain over the last few days, with the long-term forecast indicating further showers.

Clerk of the course Jason Loosemore said: “We’re going to have a precautionary inspection on Thursday afternoon but we haven’t firmed up the times as yet.

“The ground is heavy at the moment and we are forecast another eight millimetres on Wednesday.

“Thursday is a more promising day with scattered showers but the forecast for Friday is not very nice at all.

“We’ll have a look on Thursday afternoon and if we’re not raceable at that point, then we might struggle unless the forecast for Friday changes.”
