There are calls for the new Armed Support Unit for Dublin to be put in place immediately.
55 officers are due to make up the Armed Support Unit, which will come into force in the capital from June.
Last night's shootings in Dublin come after the Garda Commissioner Nóirín O'Sullivan yesterday confirmed that investigations into the recent gangland related murders are 'going very well'.
Independent Councillor for Dublin's North Inner-City Neil Ring, says Gardaí need more resources now, to help them to protect communities.
"This Armed Support Unit that the Commissioner has promised would be resourced, 55 men and women in June, we want that now.
"The Gardaí need to smash these gangland crime rings and let the people just live in peace and harmony."
