Euro 2012 fans urged not to support prostitution
The Labour Women organisation has issued a statement urging Irish soccer fans travelling to the Euro 2012 games not to contact prostitutes while in Poland.
It is part of a Europe-wide campaign to combat prostitution and raise awareness of the harm it does to women.
Katherine Dunne, chair of Labour Women, said it is known that demand for the sex trade increases during big games.
A total of 73% of women working in prostitution report having been subjected to physical violence, while 68% met the criteria for post traumatic stress disorder.
