ICTU will outline a number of measures it believes will help the country get back on track. It is expected to reject any process aimed at cutting the wages of public sector workers.

Union were reacting to reports that the Government plans to secure the majority of €2bn worth of planned cutbacks by reducing pay for civil and public servants.

The Public Service Executive Union has also reportedly warned that, while it is prepared to share the burden of the rescuing the Irish economy, its members will go on strike if their pay is cut.
