Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll has been named RBS 6 Nations player of the tournament for a second successive season.

Ireland captain Brian O’Driscoll has been named RBS 6 Nations player of the tournament for a second successive season.

O’Driscoll guided Ireland to a Triple Crown triumph, although his team were edged out by France for the title.

O’Driscoll comfortably topped a fans’ vote on the official tournament website.

He said: “There were some outstanding players and performances in this year’s RBS 6 Nations Championship, so I was very surprised to learn that I had been voted as player of the tournament.

“I am obviously honoured and delighted to have won this accolade, and would like to thank those fans who voted for me.”
