Kevin Mallon due in court in connection with Olympic ticket touting case

Irish man Kevin Mallon is due to appear in a Rio court today in connection with allegations of ticket touting.

The THG sports director was released on bail from Bangu Prison in the early hours of yesterday morning under strict conditions including an 8pm curfew.

He is banned from any Olympic or Paralympic venues and must also alert authorities as to his whereabouts.

Brazilian police claim he was found in possession of more than 800 tickets and was attempting to sell them, but Mr Mallon denies any wrongdoing.

The court system in Brazil is very different to the one in Ireland, it is not believed that any evidence will be heard or any details about the allegations.
