Brunettes have more fun, says Reese

Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon says she prefers life as a brunette.

Legally Blonde star Reese Witherspoon says she prefers life as a brunette.

The actress died her hair dark for the premiere of new film Vanity Fair.

In Venice to promote the movie today, Witherspoon said: “It’s great to be brunette.

“Nobody knows who I am. Everybody walks right past me. It’s a nice reprieve from my normal self.”

The 28-year-old mum of two recently complained she suffered from cellulite, stretch marks and saggy breasts.

But she looked in fine shape for her appearance on the Venice Lido with her co-star, British actor James Purefoy.

Witherspoon plays social climber Becky Sharpe in the big screen adaptation of William Thackeray’s classic novel.

The film has received bad reviews in the US but is in contention for the Golden Lion prize at the Venice Film Festival.

Witherspoon is in Italy with actor husband Ryan Phillippe.

“We’re having a wonderful time looking at the architecture and going to museums and eating the lovely Italian food. It’s a great escape for myself and my husband.”

Just before filming began on Vanity Fair, Witherspoon fell pregnant with her second child, son Deacon.

She said: “The first time I met Vanity Fair director Mira Nair she said something no director has ever said to me in my life – she told me I needed to gain some weight.

“She said I needed to put on 10 to 15 pounds and she turned to my husband and told him ’I think she might have to get pregnant’.

“I said ’Careful what you wish for’ and then it happened.”
