Roscommon: Woman in 40s dies after stabbing

A woman in her 40s has died after she was stabbed in Roscommon town.

A woman in her 40s has died after she was stabbed in Roscommon town.

The incident happened at about 2.30pm today at a house in the Spinney area of the town. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 3pm.

A man in his 20s has been arrested and is being questioned by gardaí at Roscommon station.

It is understood the body remains at the scene, which has been preserved for technical examination.

Gardaí are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area and the office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
