Middle ranking Gardaí have said morale is at an all-time low in the force.
A meeting of members of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors is getting underway in Dublin around now.
They are discussing whether or not to pull out of talks on extending the Croke Park deal.
The AGSI said there are no proposals that they feel they can work with and General Secretary John Redmond said officers are fed up of cuts.
Mr Redmond said: "There is already low morale at the moment. The fact is that we have a pain in our face trying to get the Minister and the Commissioner to accept that, I am afraid they refuse to accept that morale is at an all-time low in the garda organisation.
"They refuse to accept that people who provide a frontline policing service and a professional policing service to the community feel very aggrieved."
