Two England fans who allegedly wore SS insignia at Saturday’s World Cup game against Paraguay in Frankfurt were arrested on their return to the UK, British police said today.
The supporters, aged 21 and 24, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, were detained last night after landing at Leeds airport, said an Association of Chief Police Officers spokeswoman in Germany.
They were held overnight and may appear in court later.
British prosecutors are in Germany for the World Cup tournament and are passing information about arrested fans to the authorities in England with a view to their seeking football banning orders.
