Rumours are continuing to circulate today about the possible takeover of Dunnes Stores by the British supermarket chain Asda.

Rumours are continuing to circulate today about the possible takeover of Dunnes Stores by the British supermarket chain Asda.

Reports this morning say store managers were due to briefed yesterday ahead of a "significant announcement" by the company.

However, the meetings did not go ahead.

Dunnes and Asda have both refused to comment on the takeover speculation, but Dunnes did announce last night that it was creating 169 jobs at a new store in Tipperary.
