Postal deliveries delayed again today

Postal deliveries in rural areas have been delayed for the fourth day in a row today by the pay dispute between postmasters and An Post.

Postal deliveries in rural areas have been delayed for the fourth day in a row today by the pay dispute between postmasters and An Post.

More than 600 members of the Irish Postmasters’ Union again refused to accept early morning deliveries at sub-post offices, or to supervise and assist mail-sorting.

The dispute centres on conditions and pay for the contracted postmasters. The union wants pay increases for sorting duties, which currently pay just €2 an hour.

The management claims the postmasters have already received significant pay increases over the past five years.
