Over three quarters of Irish people believe that the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern misled the Dáil over the appointment of Ray Burke.

This is according to the results of a nationwide telephone poll published in a Sunday broadsheet today.

However, only 41% of the 400 Irish households polled believe that Mr Ahern should resign.

The results come just days after the Taoiseach, speaking about the Ray Burke affair, stated that he never took a bribe in his life.
