Joan Burton says the party gained a lot of support young people in rural communities during the Marriage Equality Referendum.

She says the poll is a matter for her deputy leader.

She said: "Well that's Mr Kelly's responsibility, so I am going to ask him to answer that for you, because up to then I thought farmers loved Alan.

"All I can say is that it is one of the reasons I am here, to meet the farming community and already today I can say the reception has been extremely friendly."
