An Indian website is offering men the chance to date 'virtual wives' before they commit to marriage in real life.

By logging onto biwhotohaisi.com – which means 'an ideal wife' in Hindi – bachelors can choose to commit to a devoted homemaker, a control freak, shopping and soap opera obsessive or an ambitious banker.

Once they subscribe they receive automated phone messages from their virtual wife such as: "Please eat your lunch, I have made your favourite dish."

The exercise is designed to help single men decide whether they should sign up to parent site Bharat Matrimony, which will then help them to find real wives.
