A golfer bitten by a deadly spider carried on playing after removing its venom using a tee.
Swedish professional Daniela Holmqvist refused to have any medical assistance after she was nipped on the leg by what is thought to have been a black widow, but instead she removed the venom herself using some of the golfing equipment after her leg had started to swell up.
The 24-year-old sportswoman – who achieved a respectable score of 74 following the incident – explained: "A clear fluid came out.
"It wasn’t the prettiest thing I’ve ever done but I had to get as much of it out of me as possible.
“When I told the local caddies they were horrified. They said it was a black widow and immediately started looking for their phones to call the medics.”
