Sinn Fein has urged British Prime Minister Tony Blair to remain focused on talks to bolster the peace process, despite the resignation of Northern Secretary Peter Mandelson today.

Sinn Fein has urged British Prime Minister Tony Blair to remain focused on talks to bolster the peace process, despite the resignation of Northern Secretary Peter Mandelson today.

Party president Gerry Adams said the Blair administration should not be "distracted by the fall-out" of Mr Mandelson's resignation due to a passport scandal.

Mr Adams said the North was currently in a defining period, which required special commitment from Mr Blair.
