Bank shares boost ISEQ

The ISEQ-index of Irish shares rallied its troops this morning as investments surged adding a 249.7-point increase to the overall value at 8233.49.

The ISEQ-index of Irish shares rallied its troops this morning as investments surged adding a 249.7-point increase to the overall value at 8233.49.

Topping the ISEQ riser's board the financial big guns clocked up significant gains with Anglo Irish leading the pack.

The bank recorded a 77c jump in share price at €13.78 in the first hours of today's trading while IL&P, close at its heels, climbed 73c to €16.92 per share.

Also performing well Bank of Ireland and AIB managed a 55c and 66c surge in share prices to €13.65 and €17.95 respectively.

One of today's only losers, ferries group Irish Continental saw 22c shaved off its share price.
