Olivier Dacourt has signed a new five-year contract at Leeds United - who hope Mark Viduka will follow his lead.
The French midfielder has put pen to paper on a new deal which extends his previous Elland Road agreement by a year.
Dacourt originally signed for five years when he joined for £7.2m from Lens last summer.
Leeds chairman Peter Ridsdale told the club's official website: "We have agreed a new five-year deal with Olly.
"We were never in any doubt that Olly would stay and now he has agreed, with the extra extension, he is here for five more years which we are delighted about."
Ridsdale added that he was confident Australian striker Viduka would put paid to further speculation about his future by inking a deal in the next few days.
He added: "As far as Mark Viduka goes we are meeting his accountant next week, who wouldn't be wasting his air fare to tell us he's not staying.
"I've spoken to Mark again this week and I would expect Mark to similarly conclude the deal by the end of next week."
