The number of patients on trolleys at Galway hospitals has reached a record high of 60 today.
There are currently 36 patients in the Emergency Department at Galway University Hospital, 12 in the Medical Assessment Unit and nine on trolleys on already full wards throughout the hospital.
There are also three people on trolleys in Merlin Park Hospital awaiting beds.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says full capacity has been rolling for three days and conditions are unbearable for both patients and staff.
