The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has reiterated his view that Fianna Fail TD GV Wright must face the full rigours of the law after knocking down a woman while driving under the influence of alcohol.

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has reiterated his view that Fianna Fail TD GV Wright must face the full rigours of the law after knocking down a woman while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Mr Wright was arrested around 10 days ago after hitting the pedestrian in Dublin’s north inner city.

He issued an apology for his actions and admitted he had drink taken at the time of the incident.

The Taoiseach reiterated today that his sympathies lie with the victim of the crash and has expressed fear that she may lose the limb.
