A man who fired on police officers in a Paris train station with a pellet gun was wounded today when officers returned fire, police officials said.
The man, whose name was not released, was hit in the abdomen and the foot, police officials said.
The incident occurred at about 7.20pm at the Gare du Nord station in Paris. Three officers tried to conduct a routine check on the man, who took out the pellet gun and fired twice, missing the officers, police officials said.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials for the Paris firefighters said. The extent of his injuries was not immediately clear.
Traffic at the Gare du Nord, a major transport hub with metro and train lines in northern Paris, was not affected, railway officials said.
In March, the station was the scene of a clash between youths and police after a passenger
