Strokes announce live return
The Strokes have announced their live return with a festival date in New York this year.
The band - featuring Julian Casablancas, Nick Valensi, Albert Hammond Jr., Nikolai Fraiture and Fabrizio Moretti - are set to play the Governors Ball on Randall's Island with OutKast, Jack White and Vampire Weekend in June.
The Strokes haven't played together since November 2011 at the Planeta Terror festival in Brazil, despite releasing their fifth album 'Comedown Machine' last year.
They have also not performed in the UK since they headlined Reading & Leeds Festival in August 2011 and fans hope their return at the three-day event in America, from June 6 to 8, will pave the way for more gigs.
Although guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. thinks it is unlikely, telling the NME: "There might be times when we're not doing things but I don't feel like we'll ever stop.
"We've come to the point where we've been together so long and been through so much that why announce anything besides what we're doing? We're just together."
As well as performing with The Strokes, frontman Julian will also take to the stage for a solo set. He will appear on the bill alongside Damon Albarn, Disclosure, Skrillex, Phoenix, Tyler, the Creator, La Roux, The Kills and James Blake.
Last summer's Governors Ball saw Kanye West debut material from his 'Yeezus' album.
The first day of the event was cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions and Kings Of Leon had to rearrange their opening night headline set.
