Clerical abuse survivors to protest Bishops' reinstatements

A protest is due to take place later over the Vatican's decision to reject the resignation of two Irish bishops in the wake of the Murphy report on clerical child abuse.

A protest is due to take place later over the Vatican's decision to reject the resignation of two Irish bishops in the wake of the Murphy report on clerical child abuse.

Bishops Eamon Walsh and Raymond Field submitted their resignations last December, but earlier this week the Pope announced they are to be assigned new responsibilities within their diocese.

Clerical abuse survivors are expected to attend this afternoon's demonstration at the Papal Nunciature in Dublin.

Organiser Brendan Butler has said people want the Pope to reverse his decision or "at least recognise their anger".
