Iran joins widespread criticism against Saudi Arabia executions

Iran has condemned the execution of a leading Shia cleric in Saudi Arabia.

Nimr al-Nimr was among 47 people put to death for allegedly being involved in terrorism.

Iran's foreign ministry has accused Saudi Arabia of executing its opponents, while actually supporting terrorism itself.

Reporter Lisa Holland has details of Nimmer Al Nimmer's death: “He is a man who is of Saudi descent, who was in his 50s.

“We understand that like the rest of the prisoners he was executed with a sword. These executions are not public executions, but happen privately in a prison setting.”
